World Class ratings from Vision in Print!

Since 2006 we have been making substantial investments in time and resources to create a culture of 'continual business improvement' here at Eclipse Colour. The framework for this is the 'Lean' manufacturing guidelines set out by the BPIF supported ViP who advise, review and assess at regular intervals.

The outcome of the most recent comprehensive assessment is published in a 'snapshot' report and rates 14 areas of the business from culture and environment through to operations and working practices. Of those 14 areas Eclipse Colour were rated between 3 and 4, with 4 being 'World Class' as defined by ViP and hitting the maximum in three of the categories!

Even more impressive is just how far we've progressed since 2006, still way above the 'industry average' as we were back then, but now firmly at the 'best practice' end of the graph.

ViP have assessed over 550 companies with as few as 6 making the top category of 'Best Practice' – Eclipse Colour stands out as the only commercial printer to be rated this highly – quite some achievement!

The huge commitment made in staff training and employee involvement (over 2000 hours in the last 12 months alone) has really started to reap rewards, we project that we will reduce waste in the next year by over £395,000 and internal administration by over 30%

These internal efficiencies not only help to offset the ever increasing material and energy costs but also mean we can continue to offer our clients competitive prices whilst maintaining our sustainable growth plans and provide even more outstanding print solutions.

Simon Moore (Eclipse Colour MD) stated back in 2006 that he would be driving the programme for change from the top and his determination to see the long term benefits have motivated him to keep that promise - Simon explains…'for me the biggest change in the whole process (outside the obvious waste reduction in the business) is how the culture of improvement has been embraced by everyone, managers and production staff alike.
