Thinking of others…
Last year we decided to use the budget we’d allocated for corporate gifts to make a significant donation to a local charity. The charity we choose was the ‘Matt’s Match Campaign’ - an appeal to find a young leukemia sufferer a bone marrow transplant. We are delighted to report that not only did Matt find a suitable donor, but is now recovering and doing well.
We all agreed that thinking of others at this time of year was a good thing, so this year we have taken the decision to support three local charities dedicated to helping others.
The Cransley Hospice provides hospice and palliative care services to patients for whose illness a cure may no longer be an option. It is also the base for the community Macmillan nurses and works closely with local health services and Marie Curie nurses. The KGH Charity Fund has been set up to help improve the lives of patients, their families, visitors and staff at the Kettering General Hospital. At our request the donation we have made to KGH is being used for the new ‘sensory area’ that will soon to open in the children’s ward. The area uses lights, textures, sounds and water therapy to stimulate the senses and aiding recovery. To find out more about KGH Charity Fund and the difference they make click here.
Since its founding in 1865 the Salvation Army has been providing help to people in need with a range of programmes including homeless centres, drug rehabilitation centres, schools, hospitals and medical centres, as well as nearly 16,000 church and community centres in more that 120 countries worldwide. For more information about the Salvation Army and the work they do click here.
We hope you agree that these are worthy causes and that we are right to support local charities especially at this time of year.
